About Debbie Craig
Debbie Craig, Certified Riding Instructor, was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon graduating from high school, she attended Meredith Manor International Equestrian Centre in West Virginia.Debbie entered school as a western major; however it was her experience at Meredith Manor that opened up the world of dressage.
Before settling on a career in dressage, she gained experience showing and training horses in western riding, hunter-jumper, and low levels of eventing. The driving force in Debbie’s equestrian career has always been to be an excellent instructor, a compassionate and knowledgeable trainer. As a result, the last thirty years Debbie has been totally dedicated to continuing her education in order to fulfill her goal.
Debbie opened Lantern Lane Farm so that riders could enjoy a training center that would perpetuate the growth of riding and give horse riders a family oriented place to learn and enjoy.
The riding vacation program is designed to give you as much riding as you wish to have while visiting the beautiful horse country area of Virginia. Longer lessons are great for getting to the bottom of riding problems that may need great detail and discussion to resolve, when an hour just isn’t enough. The longer lessons will allow you to ride in the morning and explore other activities in the area in the afternoon.
After your ride, there are beautiful wineries and tasting rooms in the neighboring towns and counties. For history buffs, we are close to several major Civil War Battlefields. The shopping enthusiast will enjoy country shops available throughout the area. Middleburg, Upperville, Leesburg areas offer wonderful restaurants and charming bed and breakfast accommodations.
Lantern Lane Farm (LLF) is centrally located in the Loudoun, Prince Williams, Fairfax and Fauquier Counties region. While your family member rides at LLF, enjoy a day of biking, hiking, wine or beer tasting, historical sightseeing, restaurants, antiquing, or shopping.
The region largest shopping mall, Leesburg Outlet Mall attracts regional visitors. In addition, many Civil War sites to include both the First and Second Battle of Bull Run are within minutes of LLF. Old Town Manassas, Leesburg, and Middleburg are known for its historic churches, gift shops, artist studios, and restaurants.
From LLF, head north on Route 15 to Aldie,Virginia. Continue west on Route 50 to see the Aldie Mill in action. Keep west on Route 50 for another five miles to the Red Fox Inn & Tavern in the town of Middleburg established in 1728. The Red Fox is the oldest continually operating inn in the United States. Enjoy the Northern Virginia Vineyards with tasting and live music. In the area there are more than 40 award-winning wineries, wine tasting rooms and over 30 craft breweries for those who want to enjoy a unique local taste.

LLF Waiver of Liability
We will all check the weather prior to the scheduled training. If the forecast predicts inclement weather, please call to see what the weather is like at LLF or if you have any questions or doubts about your lesson. If the lesson needs to be rescheduled, we will contact you. We will accommodate your schedule in order to make-up any missed lessons within a 30 day time limit. LLF offers under the lights for evening lessons.
Un-mounted Lessons: During the course of the year, there are six to eight subjects on riding that we like to cover with our students in lieu of actual riding. Instructors spend time with students on stable management in the barn or going through books on a variety of topics from riding maneuvers to horse anatomy, covering such subjects that would be easier to introduce on the ground as opposed to on the horse. Subject matter may be exploring new material or reinforcing learned material through the use of DVDs, discussion, personal interaction, hands on experience with materials and horses, visual aids.
Arrival and Tack Up
Please arrive at least 20 to 30 minutes before each lesson to help get your horse ready. The horse you will be riding will have been brought down to the barn and someone will be available to assist you most of the time. Occasionally you might have to tack the horse by yourself, but every horse person should know how to safely tack their riding horse. We would also appreciate your help in untacking and grooming your horse after your lesson. (The horses would appreciate cookies and apples for their hard work!) If your schedule is extremely tight or if you travel a long distance, special arrangements can be made with Debbie regarding tack up.

Also send an email message to email@example.com so we have a written request for the reschedule day and time. This notification practice provides the backup coverage from the staff who monitors my messages. Do not text message to reschedule.
